Faculty and staff are invited to attend a workshop entitled “Using Doceri: Best Practices for Use in Penn State Classrooms” on May 3 at either 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. in 108 Sackett Building, University park or via a Meeting@PennState desktop videoconference.
The presenter will be Steve James of SP Controls, producer of Doceri, an application that can be used with any Windows or Macintosh computer to control the computer with an iPad. With Doceri, a user can launch any document or application, annotate over it, and save the annotations. There is also a whiteboard feature, where a user can create any handwritten/drawn content on any background. This technology allows faculty to more easily involve students in problem solving activities as well as allows for a potential increase in mobility in the classroom.
This free workshop will focus on using Doceri in Penn State classrooms and strategies for improving a class through student participation. Participants can observe a demonstration of the features of Doceri, learn how to connect and use Doceri in a general purpose classroom, and discuss strategies to improve classroom teaching using Doceri.
