An ANGEL update was applied on October 30 to correct some outstanding issues and to implement two feature requests received from the Penn State community. The update included the following changes.
(Enhancement) Responsive web design added to improve viewing ANGEL on multiple devices. Responsive web design is an approach to designing web pages that are both audience and device aware. Applying such design to ANGEL means that ANGEL will automatically scale to the device being used to access the application via the web (smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.). It also means that ANGEL will scale whenever the end-user resizes the browser window. For ANGEL users, this means less scrolling, easier viewing, and easier navigation.
(New feature request) The ANGEL calendar can be synched with other calendar applications such as iCal, Google Calendar, and Outlook and viewed outside of ANGEL. Located under My Settings, the Calendar Feed option enables users to copy the calendar feed link and paste the link into other calendar applications, making it easier for users to keep track of important dates and items. Note: The calendar feed will bring over calendar information from the personal calendar, the course calendar, and the course meeting times as listed in the Registrar’s calendar.
My Profile page and Communicate tab
(New feature request) A MobileMail tool was added to the Course Mail component found on the My Profile page and the Communicate tab. MobileMail allows students and instructors to correspond with each other more easily on a mobile device by providing a more streamlined interface for mobile emailing within ANGEL.
