The Learning Design Summer Camp event for the Penn State learning design community that was hosted by ITS Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) each July from 2008 through 2015 will not be held in 2016. As all University departments, TLT is facing budgetary constraints; in addition, staff travel is currently being curtailed.

TLT remains highly engaged with the learning design community, however.

All Penn State learning designers are invited to take part in the monthly Learning Design Community meeting facilitated by TLT. The meeting is room-based with an option for remote participation. Each covers multiple topics, including Penn State’s Canvas implementation. Members of the community are encouraged to suggest topics that they wish to discuss.

This month’s meeting will take place Thursday, April 28 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., hosted by the Smeal College of Business eLearning Design and Innovation Group in 120 Business Building, University Park. Remote participants can take part via Adobe Connect at http://meeting.psu.edu/PSULDC.

In tandem with the monthly meeting, the Learning Design Community website at http://sites.psu.edu/psuldc/ offers the date, time, and location of the current month’s meeting, announcements, and meeting recaps with key takeaways, along with meeting recordings.

Members of the learning design community are also encouraged both to subscribe to the PSU Learning Designers email listserv and join the PSU Learning Designers Yammer group to receive notifications of future meetings and take part in discussions. To subscribe to the listserv, email Brett Bixler (bxb11@psu.edu) or Brian Young (bxy8@psu.edu) to request to be added.

TLT welcomes any additional thoughts from the community on ways to continue the learning design “conversation” in multiple spaces.
