Penn State University Park students are invited to participate in a pilot of a cloud-based printing solution called wepa that it is hoped will provide increased convenience. The pilot will begin Feb. 7 and continue through the spring semester. TLT will also pilot wepa at Penn State Berks, Great Valley, and Harrisburg, where student pilot participants have already been identified.
Using wepa, once students create an account, they can send a print job from any device, anytime, anywhere. They then visit a campus kiosk and authenticate with their Penn State Access Account user ID to release the job to print at that location. This solution will eliminate any issues with print jobs being sent at the same time or someone accidentally picking up another person’s printed pages.
During the pilot, University Park wepa kiosks will be located at:
- Knowledge Commons in Pattee Library
- HUB Technology Lounge
- Pollock Building Computer Lab
- Findlay Commons Computer Lab
- Willard Building 1st floor hallway
Up to 1,400 students can sign up for the pilot, which is being conducted by Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) as part of its exploration of various campus printing solutions. At the end of the semester, TLT will request feedback on students’ experience using the wepa service to print.
Students taking part in the pilot will receive a $5 credit on their printing accounts above their usual allotment, the equivalent of 100 black and white 8 1/2×11 sheets.
To sign up for the pilot, visit the wepa website and click the “Login” button in the upper right. From the “School” pull-down menu, select “Penn State University (PSU).” The wepa system will then link to Penn State’s system to create your account, at which time you may be required to authenticate.
