The theme of the Penn State Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) Faculty Engagement Initiative for Summer 2018 is Open Collaborative Assessment Creation. A common challenge cited by faculty transitioning to openly licensed textbooks is the loss of homework, quiz, and self-check content items that are packaged with traditional textbooks.

In order to help advance open educational resources at Penn State, TLT invites instructors throughout all Penn State campuses who are interested in Open Collaborative Assessment Creation to submit a proposal by Friday, May 11, 2018.

Content team leaders will receive a $1,500 stipend. Team leaders will serve as project managers for their team by scheduling and leading meetings, assigning specific concept questions to team members, and will be responsible for assuring team members create and review assessment items in an agreed upon timeframe.

Team members or contributors will receive an $800 stipend for participating in meetings, creating assessment questions, reviewing and commenting on other team members’ assessment items, and revising questions based on team feedback.

Apply now with the Summer 2018 Faculty Engagement Awards form. Faculty selected for the program will be announced Wednesday, May 16.
