Cole Camplese, former senior director of Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) and current vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Northeastern University, will deliver Learning Design Summer Camp’s (LDSC) opening keynote on July 23. LDSC is an annual, informal gathering of Penn State’s learning design community to cultivate methods of effectively contributing to the evolution of teaching and learning at Penn State.
Camplese is returning to Penn State to share with the learning design community as it discusses past, present, and emerging trends in teaching and learning. In his current role with Northeastern, Camplese leads the creation of strategic IT initiatives that align with Northeastern 2025, institutional culture, and long-term goals. He works closely across the campus community to deliver programs and services that enhance teaching, learning, research, and student activities.
A two-decade career in higher education has taken Camplese from University Park to Stony Brook University, to the University of Chicago, and now Northeastern. His leadership roles at each of those institutions have provided him valuable insight to be shared with this year’s LDSC attendees.
Additionally, Camplese is an Apple Distinguished Educator, selected for his innovative uses of technology in support of his teaching and administrative work. He has served on many industry advisory boards including both the NYERSERNet.org and .net boards, the Apple Digital Campus, and Junior Achievement. He is an established public speaker who strives to provide practical insight into the use of technologies to drive greater classroom engagement. He is a published author and has presented both practical and theoretical concepts at regional and national conferences.
Bart Pursel, assistant director of innovation with TLT, will co-present the keynote address with Camplese.
