The votes are in for the “coolest” presentation at the One Cool Thing session, which aired July 1 during TLT’s virtual Summer Series. The window to vote was open until July 22, the final day of Summer Series, and this year’s attendees have picked what they think is the “coolest” use of Canvas.
Beating out six other presenters, Pauline Milwood, assistant professor of Hospitality Management at Penn State Berks, won with her mini-presentation, “The Wednesday Weather Report (Journal).”
Milwood’s innovative use of the Quiz assignment function in Canvas allowed students to provide open feedback in a fun way. Students in her HM 430: Advanced Food Production and Service Management course completed a two-part assignment in Canvas on Wednesdays by selecting an image that best depicts their work experience at a real-life pop-up restaurant at Penn State Berks, and then explaining their selection in a journal entry response.
