Impact Statement

{

As a new faculty member at Penn State, I was initially motivated to engage with Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) to gain confidence with Canvas. My journey with TLT over the past 18 months has truly transformed my approach to integrating technology into my teaching.

Several specific programs and events were particularly insightful. The Introductory Canvas webinars provided a solid foundation, quickly making me comfortable with the platform. What really broadened my horizons was participating in the Teaching with Technology Provost Endorsement. This program offered a clear pathway to explore the vast array of resources available to Penn State faculty, including the incredibly robust Faculty Tech Academy on LRN. The Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium was another highlight, offering a full day of valuable learning and networking opportunities.

A true game-changer was the Designing AI-Conscious Assignments Workshop. As a direct result of insights gained, I have completely re-tooled my MGMT 321 Leadership and Motivation course for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester to expose students to new generative artificial intelligence tools. The course will now culminate with each student creating a podcast comparing leadership and motivation perspectives from two authors/speakers with diverse backgrounds, fostering both critical thinking and digital literacy. I’ve also just started the Top Hat Journeys program and the TELL faculty cohort, both of which are providing exciting ideas for amping up student engagement and effectively incorporating student device use in class.
