New Faculty Recognition Award

This award recognizes new faculty at Penn State who have demonstrated a clear and ongoing commitment to enhancing student learning by actively engaging with TLT’s resources, events, consultations and programs.

New faculty are selected each academic year based on their participation in numerous unique opportunities to connect with TLT, whether through instructional consultations, faculty development experiences and / or initiatives designed to support innovative and effective use of technology in teaching. By actively engaging with TLT programs and services, new faculty contribute to the creation of transformative educational experiences that empower students and enrich the Penn State learning community.

“I am sincerely grateful for the support and resources provided by the Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) program. The workshops, consultations, and hands-on experiences (particularly the Canvas Prep and Practice sessions and the Learning Tool Exploration series) have helped me build digital fluency and gain confidence in using academic technologies.”

Stephanie Longo Headshot

“Participating in the opportunities provided by TLT is essential for new faculty members to learn the ropes at Penn State while discovering useful information to improve and enhance our teaching. I am very thankful that Penn State provides its faculty with such excellent opportunities to grow and develop our skills while discovering how integrating new technology into our teaching can work for the benefit of our students.”

Jenn Gresham Headshot

Jennifer (Jenn) Gresham

“The most impactful thing I learned from the TLT program was how much technology was available. There really is just too much out there to navigate on our own. It was so helpful to have a curated list of technologies that other instructors were using and also learning how and when they were using them.”

Julia Szabo Headshot

Julia Szabo

“I was excited to work with TLT and Top Hat staff during my first year at Penn State to design and engage students in the introductory Sociology course Social Problems. From live slides and in-class questions to reading quizzes, Top Hat allowed me to easily share material with students and create space for them to express their opinions and check their understanding of class material.”

“Not only has TLT provided me with the opportunity to teach in one of their spaces, but they have also supported me with workshop facilitation in everything from Virtual Reality to Adobe Express.”

“TLT, Global Penn State, and the libraries were essential in supporting ‘my OER’ work through a series of training sessions and ongoing collaboration across campuses (including at Symposium).

Leane Nedza Headshot

Leanne Nedza

“I attended the TLT Symposium. I am not a very tech savvy person so I was worried that I would be lost and not understand much at the sessions. I couldn’t have been more wrong!”
