Learning Design Communities
The Learning Design Team offers communities for faculty and staff to explore teaching and learning topics. Each group is unique, and the average time commitment is one to three hours a month.
Data-Informed Pedagogy (DIP)
The Data-Informed Pedagogy community provides a supportive environment to explore ways to use data for reflective teaching practices, course design, student engagement efforts, and other topics the group deems appropriate. The faculty meetups are not focused on a specific technology and are separate from the Course Insight focus groups and training.
Learning Design Liaisons
Learning Design Liaisons (LDL) are representatives from each college or campus who lead and support teaching with technology efforts in their respective areas. This community meets once a month to share updates, communications, and technology tips with one another. Most liaisons are instructional designers, but all Penn State faculty and staff are eligible.
Digital Fluency Community of Practice (DFCoP)
The Digital Fluency Community of Practice is a collaborative space for Penn State’s faculty and staff to generate innovative solutions to teaching and learning technology challenges. The community is led by educators across several Penn State colleges and administration offices. Anyone interested in learning or extending their knowledge and experiences in digital fluency is welcome to join.
New Faculty Community
The New Faculty Community allows faculty to interact and network with peers, gain insights, and share best practices surrounding teaching and learning topics. The community’s channel in Microsoft Teams also serves as a professional development hub for University and New Faculty Orientation resources. Virtual discussions are held monthly and provide opportunities for new faculty to connect with other members, learn about relevant educational technologies, and identify resources and tools available to new faculty.
New Penn State faculty members are automatically enrolled to the New Faculty Community Teams space in the Fall semester. If you are a new faculty member and do not have access, please request to join.
TLT Faculty Fellows
The Faculty Fellows Community is designed to advance a culture of innovation and emerging technologies in education. Whether they collaborate virtually or host in-person meetups, this group also has an active Microsoft Teams channel and a semesterly newsletter of colleague accomplishments.
