Penn State is continuing its efforts to provide support to faculty who are addressing accessibility needs for students with disabilities. In the current remote learning environment, faculty may encounter new challenges, and Penn State’s Accessibility and Usability website has numerous resources available for faculty, staff, and students, including an Accessibility Checklist.
The Penn State IT Accessibility Team has also collaborated with World Campus Accessibility, Student Disability Resources, Course Liaisons, Tech TAs, and Tech Tutors to support faculty in addressing accessibility concerns that students with disabilities may encounter in the remote learning environment.
Faculty can schedule one-on-one consultations by filling out the Accessibility Consultation Form to connect with the Accessibility Team for assistance with accessible digital course materials, lecture technology, Canvas, captioning, or any other accessibility questions.
In addition, new webinar sessions focused on Accessibility Training for Instructors are available to assist faculty in the development and transition of summer courses to a remote environment. Learn about accessibility laws and policy, disability types and assistive technology, accessibility best practices, and how to apply those in the context of online teaching. These sessions will be offered via Zoom starting May 7, 2020. Log in with your Penn State Access Account on the Learning Resource Network website to register for these sessions.
